Spring Earrings

Sue Van Dame Spring Jewelry

Sue Van Dame Spring Jewelry¬†–

Looking for sterling, aquamarine, amazonite earrings and more? I’m not sure what it is about these colors but they look like Spring to me!

I will be at the Arts in Ada Show on May 20 from 9-4. This is typically my first show of the season. It is a beautiful show right on the Thornapple River in the lovely town of Ada. We are hoping for nice weather this year!

I have a lot of new earrings combining sterling and bronze drops. As you all know, I like to have a lot of different colored stones and pearls as well.

So many people have requested I hop onto instagram so you can now find me there. I will send out more information as our 2017 show season gets into full swing!

Red Poppy Jasper

Red Poppy Jasper Collection –

I have been encouraged to work in “collections”. What do you think?

I guess I have always created with one piece leading to another piece leading to another piece. And, it’s not unusual for my customers to purchase a necklace with a pair of earrings or a bracelet and a pair of earrings. It’s not very often, however, that my customers buy a “set”. Let me know. How do you purchase your jewelry? Or the jewelry you purchase for gifts. In sets? Individually?

I love this set. Poppy jasper, turquoise, pearls, garnet, citrine and more. Sterling, brass and bronze components with my new faux leather cord. We have a nice sunny day here in Michigan with a promise of Spring in the air (on this first day of Spring!) but still with a chill. Jaspers are a grounding stone, which is perfect on a breezy day!

Bronze & Sterling Jewelry Set

One of my favorite things when I am making jewelry is to play with new metals. Along with working with one of my favorite metals – sterling. These are bronze and sterling and I am loving the combination. As far as color goes, bronze seems to be in between copper and brass to me. It is super strong and it seems to resist tarnishing more than copper and brass.

The bronze also has a higher melting point so it allows me to fuse the sterling right onto the bronze. That opens up a ton of cool possibilities!

I will be adding stones, of course. And I am still wanting to incorporate leather or faux leather (kinder for the animals and stronger too!) The cord on this necklace is a faux leather. I like it because you can get it wet and it doesn’t disintegrate like leather does. I love to hear your comments!

A lot of you have already seen my latest designs combining steel, brass and sterling. I am lovin’ how these are coming out. These are the latest pair. They are fairly long, about 3″ but I already have a shorter pair in the works.
